One of my favorite verses in all of the Bible is found in 2 Corinthians 3:18, which says, “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
In this amazing passage, Paul gives us the secret to transformation. Paul is telling us that transformation happens when we behold God’s glory.
We live in a time that is all about self-improvement. There are too many self-help programs to count. However, the Gospel is not about self-improvement as much as it is about life transformation. This transformation is supernatural, meaning that the kind of transformation God desires for us is impossible for us to obtain through our own natural abilities. The true life transformation of the Gospel is only made possible through God’s supernatural power.
Paul tells us that when we look at Jesus this supernatural transformation starts to take place in our lives. As we come to Jesus with an unveiled face, without any pretenses, just as we are, with all our faults and flaws, and look to Him, He will take on the mission of transforming us into His image.
Over the next couple of months, we are going to unveil Jesus revealed to us in the Old Testament. As we travel from Genesis all the way to the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, we are going to behold Jesus. Jesus was before anything else was, and He is the one that holds all things together.
As Jesus Christ is revealed to us in the Old Testament over these 10 weeks, we are trusting that God transforms us into His very image from the inside out!
